Bumblebee, Optimus: Father Against Son in an Epic Battle!

Transformer Wars

Some time in November, my husband had gone thrift store shopping alone.  This was something he found to be a pain when I introduced it to him six years ago.  I like to go what I call "treasure hunting" (but only in my head), and  find wonderful things for fractional prices.   I took my husband a few times and he stood by with a pained expression on his face as I searched for  my "treasures".  He was very skeptical.

Until we found the fireplace grill.

We had been looking for a fireplace grill for more than a year.  Ours wasn't horrible but it wasn't the prettiest thing, either.  However, we didn't have a lot of money to spend with a new baby (babies are very expensive).  So we searched.  And searched.  And searched.

Don't worry, I'm getting to the Transformers.

My husband, My hero

My husband was taking out the trash last week and I walked outside to keep him company.  He was bending over to pick something up outside when  I walked up.  He wasn't wearing his belt so his bottom was inching out of his pants beneath the edge of his shirt.

So I said, "You know it's a myth that you lose a lot of of the heat out of your head and your feet."

He stood up and said, "Oh, yeah."

I said, jokingly, "Yeah.  Studies show that you lose most of your body heat through your butt."

And my darling husband looks at me and very seriously says, "Oh, when you fart, right?"

I love him.

Has your spouse said any fun and interesting things to you lately?

Where Does Weight Go When You Lose It?

I was a size 12-14 when I married my husband 5 years ago.  After the birth of our son, I was a solid 24.

Joy.

Despite my size 12, I have never been a small woman.   Most doctors have said big boned (yep, It's actually a thing) since at a size 12-14, I weighed a good 178lbs.

For the past three years I have been fighting my weight trying to get myself back into those jeans that fit so perfectly and out of those baggy elastic waist knit pants.  I am not one for dramatic weight loss diets and plans but I tested out a few and managed to gain weight each time.  It was frustrating and depressing.  This past year has been different though.

I somehow managed to lose over 35lbs this year without really trying.  I am now a size 18.
Me, April 2010

Okay, if you've been struggling with your weight you probably just read those words and cursed me to the best of your ability.  But don't fret.  I am here to share my weight loss tips with you.  None of these tips is a dramatic lifestyle or diet change.  Just minor things that put together  can create a great change in your body.

Why Postpartum Depression? Why Not?

Many women, after having a child, experience mountains of depression.

People who have not given birth cannot at all understand.  Husbands and significant other's (SO)  think they understand, but become quickly impatient when they feel you should be over it and back to catering to their needs.  And why can't you stop being selfish and just be happy you have a baby to take care of  for the rest of your life?

A lot of people take postpartum depression as a joke.  It's a very serious thing and without proper support and sometimes, therapy, some women can become violent in their depression and act out to get someone to take notice.   Many people don't realize that every woman goes through some form of postpartum depression and many actually go through it in varying degrees for most of their lives.
