I Have The Cheese, You Provide The Whine

Talking to a three year old can be so much fun!  Recently I was getting my son, Hayden, ready to go out.  We were on our way to a barbeque at my in-laws.  I was telling Hayden about all of the people we would see:  All of his aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins.  He'd recently spent the night with my sister in law and  her children and was eager to see them again.

I said, "Hayden, aren't you excited?  You get to see your cousins and play with them!"

Hayden:  "Uh-huh.  We have fun!"

Me:  "Yes, you get to see...",  I started naming his cousin's.  As I got to one of his older cousins, Hayden started to shake his head, vehemently.

Supernatural and Fringe coming back!

Yay!   The newest episode for Supernatural comes back tonight, April 15 at 8pm Central after two weeks hiatus.  I am so excited!  My hubby and I were very sad with Rufus' death.  He was one of our favorites.

We loved the back and forth with Bobby.  Rufus was the only one who could really hold his own.  He was one of the only one's who actually made it through last season's apocalypse, too.

A moment of silence for our buddy.

On the other hand, good riddens, Grand-dad!  Sam must have gotten his bad attitude from him.

They Said, "Go Fly A Kite...."

So we did.

My husband recently celebrated his birthday and we decided to stay around the house and do family stuff for the occasion.  We packed a picnic and went out to explore our backyard.   Since Adam talked about flying kites when he was a child, I went out and got a kite for us to fly.

I'm not  a kite flyer.  At least I'd never done it before, so I didn't really know the hazards of trees, power lines, and low wind.

Alas, we had all three.  But we managed to have a great time, too.

Here are a few pics from our kite adventure:

We had some trouble keeping the kite in the air.
He seemed to prefer:  the bushes

Strawberries Pt. 1: Photo Project

I just got my new remote flash in and decided to take a few low light photos.  As you know, low light makes most photos look like poo, even with a flash sometimes.  The problem is, you can't possibly hold the camera steady enough to not blur or develop some grain in your low light photos.   Or you end up drowning out the picture with a flash that is too bright.

Of course, there are new pocket cameras out  that have special low light settings, but since I (mostly) use my DSLR, I have to go another route to get natural looking lighting for low light.  I use a manual setting and a low aperture f5 and ISO 100.  I use a tripod and remote flash trigger to minimize shaking.  The two don't cost much and if you want to get some beautiful night shots and night cityscapes, they are the best way to go.

I'm trying to photograph something everyday.  I started a small project on strawberries.  I'm playing around with textures and light and, photo manipulation of color.  Tell me what you think:

Dear Mr. President,

I just wanted to share with my readers a poem that I composed a few months ago about CNN's favorite subject, Mr. President, Barack Obama.

I hope that you enjoy it.

It's Lonely There.

To a Nation that will crush a leader,
Obama elected.
We hope we don't hurt you but
collateral damage is expected.
We have built you up to tear you down.
We are sorry. It is our way.
No one leaves unscathed.
Our wrath, because of your former,
because of you,
because of your new ancestors,
brothers, predecessors.
You are commander and
We will always question
your authority
and follow blindly and not care.
We will rip apart your words
to analyze their heart.
You will always be found:
Wanting. Genius. Untried.
Still, you are the “New Hope” of Our hearts
and the prayer of a Race.
We are many and one.
We are unchanging.
We are mercurial.
We are not indifferent.
We are proud. We scold.
We love you and we hate you
Because you are the Chief
and everyone knows how they feel about
the Man on Top.

I heart Bar-B-Que! Seasoned, Grilled Pork Loin

I love my grill.

Being from Memphis, home of the best barbeque ever, I spend all winter thinking of all of the stuff I'm going to throw on the grill as soon as it gets warm enough.  I don't stop grilling until the first snow, which for southerners means February.

Freddy vs. Jason vs... Mike Meyers?

My husband tells me he read somewhere that there would soon be a new horror flick coming out involving one of my most favorite horror icons, Freddy Krueger.

I'm not here to debate which man did a better job playing Freddy in Nightmare on Elm Street, Robert Englund, or... that other guy.

I am  not making a stink about who I think is scarier, Robert Englund's  Krueger with a burned and gleeful face as he leapt into your subconscious and imagined the most inventive and horrifying ways to kill you or... that other guy with the frozen mask.

No, I'm just excited to hear that the Freddy Krueger legacy will live on.

EEK! Oh My God! It's... Keanu Reeves!

I'm going to write about something now that scares the hippidy-hoo out of me:

 Keanu Reeves.

Trying To Squeeze Our Mind Grapes
No. I'm not joking.
